Saint Vincent of Saragossa (d. ~304) was a deacon under Bishop Valerius of Saragossa. Known for his eloquence and courage, he was arrested during the Diocletian persecution and brought before the governor Dacian in Valencia. Refusing to renounce Christ, he endured brutal tortures with unshakable faith and died a martyr. His body was miraculously protected by ravens until Christians buried him.
He is honored on January 22 as the Protomartyr of Spain, patron of Valencia, Lisbon, and vineyards, and is venerated in both East and West as a model of courage and steadfast faith.
